Some people feel more than others. I’ve heard that said quite a few times before in the past. Oftentimes you whisper among your friends and say oh she’s soooo sensitive or you say someone is being too emotional. I was never that person. I kept to myself, I held everything in, and close friends even called me Elsa (cue music: Let it go from Disney’s Frozen).
That was until a few days ago.
Sure, I’ve been emotional at random times in the past year but a few days ago I must’ve lost my shit more than the other days. I watched a rom-com movie, Queer Eye, and Avengers Endgame at home while eating ice cream and I’ve cried at various points – all the time I seriously couldn’t understand why. I could not relate to any of the stories but I’ve felt such emotional intensity that I would start crying. At one point I gave up trying to understand it and just cried it out – for a good thirty minutes. It was tiring, and it drained me emotionally and physically.
Am I going crazy?
Well, I’ve always been a little crazy…. but that’s besides the point.

People know about popular body parts – the heart, the lung, our brain, even kidneys… and nobody really knows much about the thyroid. The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate the body’s metabolic rate as well as heart and digestive function, muscle control, brain development, mood, and bone maintenance. The thyroid helps regulate many body functions by constantly releasing a steady amount of thyroid hormones into the bloodstream.
I don’t have my thyroid anymore.
I know my hormones are probably whacked right now and that’s okay. I realized this week that its important to also let go – cry it out, get it out of your system, even if you don’t know why the hell you feel these emotions so intensely. I am recovering from a major surgery and I need to give myself time. I feel lucky I have a husband who will listen (he might not understand my crazy but I know he’s there to support me).
So, lessons for this week is:
Cry when you need to.
Don’t keep it in: Talk, talk, talk.
Give yourself time to adjust.
We’re all going a little crazy but it’s important that you love yourself.
